“Citi Bike” is a drunken outburst of anger after heartbreak, in which bravado about other women covers a narrator who still hurts. Lido calls it “a drunken, vengeful, careless night of stupid stuff” used for “blowing a lot of steam” and “getting rid of a lot of anger” 1. The meaning

The song is about rage as a reaction to rejection. Lido sets up the story plainly: when you want something so badly and fail, “most people respond with anger,” and “that’s what happens in this story” 1. The opening verse fits that account. The narrator “tore my heart out of my chest” and put it “on a platter,” only to be blown off “like a feather.” What follows is a string of dismissals (“Aight fuck it then”, “Fuck everything”) that sound like someone trying to talk himself out of caring.

The obvious reading is that this is a party song about women and drinking, and Lido himself leans into that: “here’s to getting drunk and doing stupid things” 1. But the same line opens with “I’m heart broken,” and the lyrics keep circling back to the one who left, with lines like “I fucking loved her” and “Bitch I gave you everything.” The toast and the wound sit in the same breath. The framing as the album’s “apex of rage” 3 and the point where he is “drunk and angry and about to fall off a psychological ledge” 3 matches how the song plays: crowded, loud, and close to coming apart.

Taken together, the evidence says “Citi Bike” is a portrait of how a hurt person behaves when he refuses to look at the hurt. The crude bravado, the stacked voices and the toast to stupidity are all the anger Lido describes, and the song’s central joke is that none of it works, since every verse ends back at the person who left.
